Thomas “Tom” Duke
Partner
Tom has broad experience as a litigator both on the criminal side, serving as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida prosecuting violations of federal criminal law, including drug crimes and white-collar crimes, and on the civil side, representing and defending sureties, contractors, suppliers, and public corporations in complex commercial litigation.
Before joining Dry Law, Tom was Senior Surety Claims Counsel with Liberty Mutual Surety managing the investigation of and collaboratively working with owners, design professionals, contractors and others to reach creative and cost-effective resolutions to performance and payment claims on construction projects throughout the country.Having served for many years as Senior Surety Claims Counsel, first for AmTrust Surety, then Liberty Mutual Surety, Tom understands the operations, the mission, and the priorities of surety companies in responding to claims and lawsuits. As a litigator with extensive experience, he understands how to represent clients in and out of court to achieve results that are as favorable and cost-effective as possible.
Tom’s commitment to serve clients with excellence, promote their best interests, and, on their behalf, bring to bear his knowledge, understanding, experience, and energy to wisely resolve disputes – this is what defines and guides his work.
Beyond the practice of law, Tom is actively involved in his community, among other things, serving at a homeless shelter and a retirement home. He enjoys weekend get-aways with his wife to Galveston and Denison, spending time with his family, and, especially, jumping on the trampoline with his grand-daughters.
